The Osun State local government election has been deemed a waste of taxpayers' money by Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Oyintiloye, the election was illegal, considering the Court of Appeal's reinstatement of the previously sacked APC council chairmen.
The APC has also accused the Osun State Government of planning to use the election as a means to siphon public funds. The party claims that the government's disobedience to the Appeal Court judgment is not only laughable but also disappointing, and that they have a duty to respect the rule of law.
In response to these allegations, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) chairman, Barrister Hashim Abioye, has denied any wrongdoing, stating that the commission under his leadership is transparent in its dealings. Abioye also pointed out that the previous OSSIEC leadership spent almost N3 billion on the Yes or No election, which he considers a waste of taxpayers' money.
